Ulrich Bartholmoes
Ulrich Bartholmoes, known as "UBA", is 38 years old and lives in Girona (Spain) and Munich (Germany).
He started racing in Gran Fondo-style events in 2014 and quickly discovered that he enjoyed the toughest, longest one-day races with the most elevation gain. While researching even longer events, he came across the world of bikepacking and unsupported ultra races, and he’s been drawn to these ever since.
Since entering his first unsupported race, the Transpyrenees, in 2019, Ulrich has completed 22 ultra-distance events ranging from 700 to 4,300 kilometers, all nonstop.
He’s the overall winner of 16 ultra-cycling races and holds several fastest known times on various routes. Ulrich’s greatest success came in the summer of 2023, when he won the 4,300-kilometer mountain bike race, the "Tour Divide,“ from Canada to the U.S.-Mexico border.
He completed it in the second-fastest time ever, braving extreme conditions with rain, heavy mud, and intense heat toward the end of the race.
