Gerrans triumphs at Milano-Sanremo

Simon Gerrans, GreenEdge team. It’s up to him the joy of the 2012 Milano Sanremo victory after a perfect race, always headed among the favorites of the day, ready to catch the right moment to slip in the head of the course.

The Australian team, which has in its ranks also the last year winner Matthew Goss, is a new team but already among the most important in the cycling world.

Even this year’s race has been decided on the Poggio hill, when Vincenzo Nibali was the first to put an acceleration to the course, to create the space needed to fight for the victory out of the group. Gerrans was immediately with him and Cancellara, who thus must revise its plans for the ending, after a while joined the group.
So everything was decided on the finish line, when the three arrived with a 6″ lead on the rest of the group: the winner is Gerrans, who beat Cancellara, until the last the leader of the flight.
